Acquisition Information

The Mary D. Hudgins Collection was donated to Special Collections by Mary D. Hudgins of Hot Springs, Arkansas, on December 18, 1984.

Processing Information

Groups I-V were processed by Kim Allen Scott, Nan Lawler, and Norma Ortiz-Karp, July 1991. The collection originally included many duplicates filed in different access points. Duplicates, so far as possible, were eliminated from the collection, and every effort was made to strike a balance between preserving original order and providing access to the materials.

Group VI materials were initially processed by Kim Allen Scott in July 1992 as a separate collection, the Mary D. Hudgins Arkansas Music Collection, which was also assigned the identifier of MC 534. This portion of the collection was processed using funds from an endowment left to the University of Arkansas by Mary D. Hudgins. The Music Collection materials were rehoused from filing cabinets by Amy Allen and Katrina Windon in 2019-2020, and were reintegrated into the Mary D. Hudgins Collection by Katrina Windon in June 2020.
