Microphotographic transparencies duplicated by the Office of War Information in 1945 from original photographs created by the Resettlement Administration (1935-1937) and the Farm Security Administration (1937-1939) of Arkansas subjects. The photographs document rural and urban life in many counties and towns in Arkansas during the Depression.

Biographical Note

The Farm Security Administration was an agency created in the New Deal as a successor to the Resettlement Administration in 1937. The agency was created to combat rural poverty during the Great Depression.

The United States Farm Security Administration Photographs of Arkansas were purchased by Special Collections, University of Arkansas Libraries in 1982 from the Library of Congress Photoduplication Service of Washington, D. C.
