Biographical Note

Poetry Day was first declared by Arkansas governor Ben Laney in 1948 and was sponsored by the National League of American Pen Women. Later governor Winthrop Rockefeller proclaimed October 15 as Poetry Day in Arkansas as Rosa Zagnoni Marinoni Day.
