Scope and Content Note
The collection contains correspondence, photographs, and other materials documenting the early years of the Inspiration Point Fine Arts Colony (IPFAC) in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. In addition, the collection includes Hegyi’s narrative description of the collection contents and brief biographical sketches of friends from her time at IPFAC.
Correspondents include IPFAC founder Henry Hobart, Katherine Wheeler, Mr. and Mrs. V.H. Eckles, Bill and Esther Nies, Margaret Myers, George Rossman, and Elsie and Louis Freund. Early photographs are predominately snapshots taken by Hegyi herself, while the 2002 color photographs are by composer Fred Goossen. Subjects of photographs include buildings and grounds at the Colony, downtown Eureka Springs, Charlotte and Julius Hegyi, Max Werner, Jack Norman, Walter Allen Stults, Henry Hobart, Constance Eberhart, Don Ruzak, Georgia Tice, George Rossman, Martha McCrory, Esther and Bill Nies, Louis and Elsie Freund, and Katherine and Cot Wheeler.

Biographical Note
Charlotte Ann Barrier Hegyi was born January 7, 1928, to Mike and Eppie Barrier of Lubbock, Texas. She graduated from McGill University in 1951 with a Bachelor of Music and a Licentiate in Piano. On August 27, 1953, she married Julius Hegyi, a violinist and conductor. From 1953-1956, the two served on the faculty at the Inspiration Point Fine Arts Colony (IPFAC) in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, where they also performed as part of the Heygi Trio (along with Martha McCrory). After leaving IPFAC, the Hegyis helped to establish the Sewanee Summer Music Center in Sewanee, Tennessee. In 1988, Hegyi began studying library science at Simmons University, and in 1991 she became Reference Librarian Archivist at the Hobart and William Smith Colleges, a position she held until her 2003 retirement. Hegyi continues to teach piano and perform in Geneva, New York.
