Scope and Content Note
The material consists of photocopies of newspaper and journal clippings, excerpts from books and pamphlets, correspondence, and research notes, as well as photographs of Clarke, his wife, and many of the buildings he designed. The material was collected by Pamela Dubbell in the course of preparing an article about Clarke for the Northwest Arkansas Morning News. Photocopies of this article are also included.

Biographical Note
Albert Oscar Clarke (1858-1935) was a leading early twentieth-century architect in northwest Arkansas. Born in Medina, New York, Clarke was a partner of a St. Louis firm for over twenty years. In 1904 a commission from the Monte Ne Club and Cottage Company brought him to Rogers, where he remained for the rest of his life, designing buildings throughout northwest Arkansas. Both he and his wife, Grace Emma Brownlee Clarke, were active in community affairs.
