Scope and Content Note

Included in the November 1990 accession are aerial photographs of Craighead, Crittenden, Miller, and Sebastian counties. The photographs are 10" x 10" black and white prints, providing coverage at the scale of 1:20,000, and are arranged according to flightline patterns. Two copies of flightline maps are included for each county. One copy is with the aerial photographs; the second is available separately as part of the finding aid.

In addition to the Arkansas photographs, there are 38 aerial photographs of Sequoyah and Le Flore counties in Oklahoma, forming a "flightline 14" of the Sebastian County group. The AHTD labeled eighteen of these "Fort Smith Sheets (Oklahoma)" and numbered them OK-1 through OK-18. An additional twenty prints continue the line south.

Photographs are arranged alphabetically by county name and chronologically for each county.

Acquisition Information

The Aerial Photographs of Arkansas Addendum was donated to Special Collections by the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department, Little Rock, in November 1990.

This donation is the third addition to "Aerial Photographs of Arkansas" (see MC 735). By an agreement with the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD), October, 1987, superseded aerial photographs (prints) are deposited in Special Collections; negatives remain with the highway department. All future additions will be arranged separately under this MC number, with the appropriate date of processing to distinguish them.
