Scope and Content Note

This collection contains correspondence, reports, publications, minutes, directory information, schedules, pamphlets, photographs, and other documents from numerous organizations with which DeDe Long had been involved during her time at the University of Arkansas. Organizations include the University of Arkansas chapter of the Fulbright Alumni Association, the Fulbright Institute of International Relations, the Arkansas Consortium for International Educational Programs, the University of Arkansas Committee on International Programs and Services, the University of Arkansas Office of Study Abroad and International Education, Phi Beta Delta, and the International Programs Administrative Board.

Biographical Note

DeDe (Dorothy S.) Long served as the director of the Office of Study Abroad and International Exchange at the University of Arkansas where she worked in service to international education for over 35 years. During her career, Long managed international exchange programs and was instrumental in the growth and development of the university’s international education programs. During her tenure at the university, Long helped send more than 12,000 students abroad. Long has served as the vice president for Phi Beta Delta Honors Society for International Scholars, and as a member of the Board of Directors for NAFSA: Association of International Educators, the University Studies Abroad Consortium, and the Fulbright Association. She has received the Advocate of the Year Award from NAFSA and the NAFSA Region III award for Outstanding Service to International Education. Long was also the first recipient University of Arkansas’ Hoyt Purvis Award for Service to International Education.
