Scope and Content Note
This collection includes correspondence, reports, programs, itineraries, and other documents related to Brown’s tenure as executive director of the U.S. Commission for Cultural Exchange with Iran from 1965 to 1967; a United States Information Agency organized visit of Iranian college and university officials to Wisconsin State University in 1967; and a seven-week series of conferences in the Middle East and South Asia called the New University Project, of which Brown was a participant.

Biographical Note
Dr. Richard John Brown (1922-2005) served as executive director of the U.S. Commission for Cultural Exchange between the United States and Iran from 1965-1967. He also served as University Vice President and Coordinator of Faculty Recruitment at Wisconsin State University in Whitewater, WI during the 1960s and 1970s.
