Correspondence, notes, lists, musical scores, biographical sketches, photographs, sound recordings, clippings, reviews, programs, and other published or unpublished materials created by, or collected as pertaining to, composers, lyricists, or arrangers presently or formerly resident in Arkansas, or by others whose works are generically, thematically, or otherwise associated with Arkansas.

Series 1: 127 pieces of correspondence, 1976-1979, between James R. Pebworth and composers from Arkansas who were considered for inclusion in a directory project. The series contains Pebworth's A Directory of 132 Arkansas Composers (University Library, University of Arkansas; Fayetteville, Arkansas, 1979) and some working notes and lists. Arranged alphabetically by composer. Folder 119 is missing.

Series 2: Manuscripts, typescript copies, and published copies of scores, compositions, and arrangements created by composers, lyricists, and arrangers presently or formerly living in Arkansas. Filed alphabetically by last name of artist.

Series 3: Clippings, reviews, programs, biographical material, correspondence, photographs, and other published or unpublished material pertaining to the lives and works of Arkansas composers, lyricists, and arrangers (see description for Series 2). Filed alphabetically by last name of artist. Also included are musical works of any form which are generically, thematically, or otherwise associated with Arkansas, but not created by an artist presently or formerly living in the state. Filed alphabetically by last name of artist, or by title if artist is not known.

Series 4: Phonodiscs, reel to reel tapes, cassettes, motion picture or videotape films, and other forms of sound recordings of the work of Arkansas composers, lyricists, and musicians. (See description of Series 2) Item 1 to 11 consist of 11 7 reel to reel tapes of radio programs, The Bicentennial Parade of American Music, performed October 1976-Janaury 1077 and recorded by Harding College. These works are filed according to the date of their performance. Additional items in Series 4 are filed according to the date to their acquisition.
