Scope and Content Note
The collection consists of an oral history interview, on audio cassette tape, conducted by Randall Leo Hudson of Retha Wood on April 15, 1993, about Wood's experience growing up during the Great Depression in rural Le Flore County, Oklahoma. She discusses her family life, agricultural and food practices, her school, illnesses and diseases, and home remedies. Also included is a photocopy of notes by Wood related to her discussions in the interview.

Biographical Note
Retha Louella Jones was born July 28, 1931, to John and Ella Jones, and grew up in rural Le Flore County, Oklahoma. Her father, John, was a farmer and preacher. She married Jay Wood. She passed away April 2, 2009, in Arkoma, Oklahoma.
