Ellen Compton attended the 1955 session of Arkansas Girls State under the sponsorship of the Bentonville Rotary Club.
The annual Arkansas Girls State government education program is held in June each year. High school girls from throughout the state gather for a week-long program of conventions, elections, and participation in exercises that imitate state and local government. Delegates hold mock legislative proceedings in the chambers of the House and Senate and meet with other government officials.
