Biographical Note
Dee ("Buckshot Dot") Strickland Johnson (1931-) is an artist, musician, and cowboy poet. She was named Female Cowboy Poet of the Year by the Academy of Western Artists in 1997, and was named as an Arizona Culture Keeper. Between 1973-1977, Johnson lived in Arkansas, where she performed at the Ozark Folk Center in Mountain View, wrote a column ("Holler Logue") for The Mountain View weekly newspaper, and taught at local schools.

Acquisition Information
The Dee Strickland Johnson Drawings were donated to the Special Collections Department by Ellen Compton of Fayetteville, Arkansas, circa 1995. Compton was given the drawings by Dee Strickland Johnson in the 1970s, when Compton met her in Mountain View, Arkansas, where the artist was working at the time.
