Scope and Content Note

The collection contains memorial programs, press clippings, video of a memorial service, and other materials pertaining to commemoration of J. William Fulbright's death on February 9, 1995. Fulbright was a former president of the University of Arkansas, and a U.S. Senator from 1945-1974. The bulk of the materials pertain to a Feb. 17, 1995, memorial service held at the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C., or to a Feb. 19, 1995, memorial service held at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

Acquisition Information

The J. William Fulbright Memorial Materials were collected by the Special Collections Department, and particularly by Fulbright Archivist Betty Austin and her successor, Vera Ekechukwu, from a variety of sources between 1995-2009. When known, donors of individual items have been listed in the collection inventory.
