Scope and Content Note
The papers consist of drafts of The First 100 Years and research notes. Research notes consist of correspondence, annual reports, and notes taken from newspapers and oral interviews. Series 1 consists of correspondence, ideas, and memos, as well as handwritten and typed drafts. Series 2 consists of Leflar's research files. Box 8 includes a set of note cards organized by subject.

Historical Note
When plans were initiated for observance of the University of Arkansas centennial, it was agreed that publication of a history of the first 100 years should be a part of the observance. The Centennial Committee asked Robert Leflar, a member of the University of Arkansas class of 1922 and a Law School professor at the University since 1927, to write such a book.

Dr. Robert A. Leflar, of Fayetteville, Arkansas, donated papers pertaining to his book, The First 100 Years (University of Arkansas Foundation, 1972), to Special Collections on July 29, 1974.
