Scope and Content Note

The first series in the collection contains audio and video tapes, DVDs, printed programs, posters, pamphlets, and other materials that document the Annual Fulbright Symposia from 1981-2000, with some undated materials. The second series in the collection contains various recordings collected by the Fulbright Institute: United States nationally televised political debates, The Fulbright Experience: Celebrating Forty Years, Larry King’s Night of Soviet Television and other recorded and printed materials. Symposiums are referred to variously by “Fulbright Symposium”, “Fulbright Institute Symposium”, and “Fulbright International Symposium.” Item and folder titles were derived from the original labels provided by the donor.

Biographical Note

The Fulbright Institute of International Relations is a center for study, research, and analysis of foreign policy and international affairs within the J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. The First Annual Fulbright Institute Symposium was conducted on April 7-8, 1983. Since that time, the program has conducted decades of symposia designed to bring to light concerns and encourage solutions surrounding international affairs and issues.

Acquisition Information

The Fulbright Institute Symposium Records were donated to Special Collections by the Fulbright International Relations Institute.

Access copies were created in February 2011 by the University of Arkansas Libraries.
