The letter is written in ink in 4 pages on one large folded sheet of lined paper. Kellogg states his dissatisfaction with his situation in Little Rock: climate, supplies, the rumor and desire of the troops to be mustered out soon.

Biographical Note

Theodore P. Kellogg (1844-1921) enlisted May 24, 1861 as a private in I Company, Illinois 13th Infantry. He reenlisted January 29, 1864, and in July of that year was transferred into I Company, Illinois 56th infantry. He was mustered out August 12, 1865 at Little Rock. He married Sarah Eastman Draper in 1867.
