Scope and Content Note

Autograph books, letters, and photographs pertaining to the Sledge-Ammons-Riddick family, including Civil War letters and autograph book belonging to Molsie Wright Ammons, preparatory class, Arkansas Industrial University, 1886.

The collection apparently originated with Rebecca Maisie Sledge (died January 1867, El Dorado, Arkansas), who married [?] Ammons. Their daughter, Molsie Wright Ammons (born 4 July 1866, El Dorado, Arkansas) married Walter M. Riddick, and added to the collection. The son of Molsie Wright Ammons and Walter M. Riddick (their only child) and his wife Ruth are the parents of Molsie A, R. Osborne, the donor.

The material consists of three autograph books, two photographs, and eleven items (letters and other papers) in one folder.

Acquisition Information

The Molsie A. R. Osborne Collection was donated to Special Collections by Molsie Ammons Riddick (Mrs. William H.) Osborne, Conway, Arkansas, 8 November 1985. The letters were copied by the Arkansas History Commission, September, 1985, then the originals were cleaned, deacidified, encapsulated, and returned to the lender, Molsie A. R. Osborne.
