Although there are some formal portraits, most of the photographs are snapshots. Many are of the family of Beth Faubus or were taken by her, and include negatives. There is also a large collection of negatives (for which there are few corresponding prints) pertaining to Faubus's activities as governor. Photographs that were included in letters have been left in the appropriate correspondence files. Similarly, a few photographs and drawings originally with other material have been left with that material. All the negatives are in negative storage; the slides are in slide storage. Most of the images are numbered with Arabic numerals. Addition photographs added to the collections have been placed in appropriate boxes and folders and numbered with Roman numerals.

Negatives are stored in protective sleeves, a total of 258 numbered sheets. Most of the color negatives are from snapshots, mostly taken by Beth or Orval, and representative prints are in the collection. Sheets 42-248 contain 4" x 5" black-and-white negatives dating from Faubus's time as governor. None of these have corresponding prints in this collection.

Because so many negatives have no corresponding prints and because the negatives are in protective sleeves, the negative files of this collection are open to researchers.
