The photograph collection in the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs Historical Collection (CU) is rich and extensive in scope. It documents the numerous programs administered by the Department of State, including the Fulbright Program. Photographs pertain primarily to the Cultural Presentations Program, foreign leaders, the International Visitor Program, U.S. Specialists, and Fulbright grantees (teachers, students, professors, and research scholars). Photographs of Fulbright Program participants and prominent officials comprise a large segment of the collection and highlight program activities in India, the United Kingdom, Japan, Austria, Latin America, and the former Soviet Union, as well as other countries.

Part I consists of the core collection of photos and is treated as a separate entity within the organizational outline. Part II consists of photos separated from the CU collection during processing. The photos in Part II are arranged according to the CU collection group outline so that photographs can be matched with original folders in the CU collection. Box 349 contains oversized photos.
