Scope and Contents
Contains 90 folders of material, arranged chronologically by year, including speeches and articles, together with notes, drafts, and printed and other research materials, used in speech preparation; correspondence pertaining to Brooks Hays invitations, speaking engagements completed and declined, along with personal records related to Brooks Hays's speaking career, including lists of cities, towns, and colleges visited; a partial list of national organizations addressed by Brooks Hays; lists of speeches made east and west of the Mississippi; a list of some of the business, civic, educational, professional, and religious groups addressed by Brooks Hays, together with related statistics; and programs, largely those of churches and other religious groups, including the National Conference of Christians and Jews; colleges and universities; civic organizations; business groups, particularly the Chamber of Commerce; and various seminars, conferences, and conventions, all featuring Brooks Hays as principal or noted speaker. Files also include some tape recordings of Brooks Hays addresses, together with a few transcripts. Dates include: 1935-1978

Access Information
Access to business records in Box 19 is restricted; Box 19 is not a separate physical box, but a designation given to folders that are stored in Boxes 93-94. Some items from Series 1, 3, 4, 6, and 8 have also been restricted, and are stored in Boxes 93-96.
