Files contain class exercises, largely student autobiographies, reflecting, to some extent, lifestyles before forced removal and backgrounds in California and Hawaii. Some papers discuss experiences at the temporary detention centers in Fresno and Arcadia, California, while several present views concerning the forced removal of incarcerres in private life outside the American concentration camps. Less frequently mentioned subjects include: Japanese-American relationships with white people before the war, the plight of the Nisei, the 14th amendment, racial prejudice, and expatriation to Japan.
