Negatives are identified by negative sheet number (labeled as other type), row number (labeled as sub-group), and the number of the negative itself (labeled as item). For each image, additional information has been provided: a brief identification of the subject based on the description in the book, the page on which the picture may be found in the book, and (where possible) the location of the print. Most prints are located in the Special Collections picture collection (abbreviated "SpC Pic"). Others are from Special Collections manuscript or broadside collections, from printed material, or loaned for copying by private collectors.
