Scope and Content Note

From the Collection:

The records consist of nine ledgers, seven "calendar diaries," and a number of notes, announcements, advertisements, etc., that had been laid in. The ledgers contain two main sets of records, the one being the accounts of G. D. Counts's medical practice, the other being the accounts of a general store owned by the doctor's brother, Lewis Marvin, at first in partnership with G. D., later in partnership with George B. Lucas. A number of the ledgers also contain some personal or household records, notes on the weather and on farming (Dr. Counts also had a farm), accounts of an apple-drying business (according to Mrs. Gus Counts, M. L. Mcilheny owned a dryer and George B. Lucas hauled apples for him), recipes for medicines, drawings by one of the doctor's granddaughters, etc.
