Scope and Contents

From the Series:

Photographs detail Governor McMath presenting speeches, meeting with constituents, and conducting election campaigns. Other photographs are of his family in the Statehouse, Hot Springs (which include photographs taken after a gambling raid), the years following McMath's two terms as Governor, his service in the Marines during World War II, the Vietnam War, and conducting visits or lectures on behalf of the Marines. Political drawings of McMath's successful bid for the position of prosecuting attorney in Hot Springs were drawn by Jon Kennedy. George Fisher and Bill Graham also contributed cartoons in later years.

Negatives are arranged in chronological order, so far as possible, based upon information written on negative envelopes. In some cases, negatives have been matched with prints in the collection. Negatives in this collection are available for research, so long as they are not removed from the protective negative sheets.

The six reels of film includes information on McMath used in election campaigns, the ROTC unit at Catholic High School, and a U.S. Navy training film.
