Scope and Content Note

The photographs were taken by JoBelle Schrillo's maternal uncle, W. V. Davis, of the Electric Studio, Springdale, Arkansas, and one bears the stamp of the studio. Four of the photographs are in a long format, 9 by 3 inches. The fifth is 5 1/4 by 3 1/4 inches. Descriptions, including names of some of the persons in the picture, were written on the verso of each item by Ms. Schrillo.

Scope and Content Note The collection consists of correspondence, primarily between Maymie Thomas and relatives during her stay at the Arkansas Tuberculosis Sanitarium. Also included is correspondence between Jo Belle Schrillo and Laverne Nelson of the University of Arkansas School of Human Environmental Sciences concerning a project by Nelson using the Thomas correspondence.
