Abstract

The Charlotte and Melvin Schexnayder Papers consist of the personal and professional papers of journalists Melvin and Charlotte Schexnayder; the bulk pertain to Charlotte Schexnayder, who also served as an Arkansas state representative.

Scope and Contents The collection consists of video and audio recordings produced or collected by Lindsley Smith as part of her Arkansas Women Legislators Oral History Project, as well as a related film and video slideshow produced by Smith. Interviewees include members and former members of the Arkansas General Assembly, and topics include their political careers, education, and family histories, as well as their advice for future female politicians.
